With the rise of Booktok, viral successes and the consolidating of publishing houses as well as shrinking staff, we will discuss how historical romances place in a current reading world. Can historical romance maintain its reign as a romance staple?
Terri Brisbin
In her previous lives, USA TODAY bestselling author Terri Brisbin may have lived in ancient Egypt and medieval Scotland, but in the here-and-now she’s stuck in the wilds of southern New Jersey with one hubby, three sons, three daughters-in-law, and FOUR grandbabies! When not living the life of a glamorous romance author or writing her way through deadline-binges-o-mania, she also continues in her part-time practice as a dental hygienist. Since 1998, Terri’s more than 50 historical and paranormal romance novels, novellas and short stories have been published by Berkley, Harlequin, Kensington, NAL, SMP Swerve, Dragonblade and Olive Heber Books. Many were released in 20 languages in 25 countries!
Jennifer Seasons
Jennifer Seasons started her career writing contemporary romances for Avon and is the author of several popular contemporary and Regency historical romances. Born in California, Jennifer has lived all over the west and now resides in the mountains of Massachusetts with her husband and their children. A dog and several cats keep them company. A lover of autumn, cozy cardigans, and coffee, Jennifer can often be found writing her novels by hand in notebooks, bundled in said cardigan with a steaming mug of dark roast nearby. When she’s not writing, Jennifer enjoys running, horse riding, yoga, hiking with her family, gardening, and lounging in a comfy spot with a good book and a homemade chocolate chip cookie or two.
Erica George
Erica George is the author of young adult romances such as Witty in Pink, The Edge of Summer , and Words Composed of Sea and Sky . She is a graduate of The College of New Jersey with degrees in both English and education, and holds an MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults from Vermont College of Fine Arts. She is currently a writing instructor at the University of Pennsylvania, residing in northwest New Jersey but spending her summers soaking up the salty sea air on Cape Cod. Many themes in Erica’s writing rotate around environmental activism and young people finding their voice. When she’s not writing, you can find her exploring river towns, whale watching, or engrossed in quality British dramas with her dog at her side.
Melinda Michaels
Moderator, Matilda Madison aka Melinda Michaels lives in Pennsylvania. A lover of history, she finds an immense amount of joy in knowing useless facts, exploring historical places and drinking copious amounts of tea. When she’s not writing she can be found researching obscured time periods for her books or her own amusement, refurbishing old furniture and baking.
