Young Journalists of Tomorrow

The journalists of tomorrow are grounded in their middle and high school experiences. Ryan Balton will be discussing the how aspiring journalists best develop and what drives them.

Class of 2007 graduate Ryan Balton was the first editor of The Del.Aware in its current form as part of the journalism class at DVHS. He was a reporter for The Gazette, the weekly tri-state newspaper of the Times Herald-Record. Ryan attended Syracuse University where he wrote for The Daily Orange and became the general manager of the campus TV studio, CitrusTV. Ryan is a freelance camera operator who works on Bloomberg and MSNBC newscasts, and live events such as Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve, Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and the Super Bowl Halftime Show. He received a Daytime Emmy Award for ABC’s Disney Parks Magical Christmas Day Parade in 2024.
